Laura Faya Menéndez is a passionate violinist and motivated to share this exciting and charming project, called MNEMUSINE. She began her VIOLIN studies at the School of Music of Gijón and she concluded them at the School of Music of higher education “Eduardo Martínez Torner” (Oviedo), apprenticed by Professor and Violinist Francisco Barahona and earning the highest mark in her final project, titled “The violin in Penderecki’s music”. The skills developed were combined in parallel effort with the completion of her individual training and chamber music education attending various advanced courses of music under the tutelage of outstanding teachers such as Alexander Vassiliev, Arcadi Futer, Amaiak Durgaryan, Yuri Nashuskin, Olga Semoushina or Georgui Fedorenko.
As a result and added to Laura’s passion, she paved the way to praised accomplishments. She finished a degree in Education at Oviedo’s University, which seals her motivation in education. She developed her teaching duties in the School of Music of Es Mercadal (Minorca – Spain). In 2005, she received the first prize in the Chamber Music Competition in Madrid, Spain. In 2009, she took part of the opera Don Giovanni (by Mozart), organized by the Opera Foundation of Oviedo. She has recently earned the Advanced Studies Diploma as a PhD student with the highest mark based on the works of violinist José del Hierro. She is currently working on her thesis.
She has been member of different orchestras: Orquesta del Conservatorio de Gijón, with which she travelled to Slovakia and Vienna and also performed in the Música-Músika Festival in Bilbao, Spain for several consecutive years; Orquesta de Cámara de Siero, with which she travelled to Bolivia and Brazil, has been appointed the leader of the orchestra in many concerts around Spain and collaborates with Fernando Argenta; Joven Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (JOSPA) with which she participated in the Young Euroclassic Festival in Berlín in 2004 and recorded Keltikhé, compesed by the Asturian Ramón Prada; Orquesta de Cámara de la Fundación Príncipe de Asturias, with which she travelled in several occasions to The Pardo Palace in Madrid and had the pleasure to play in an event attended by Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia; Joven Orquesta Internacional Oviedo Filarmonía with which she participated in series of zarzuela, and performed with Orquesta Sinfónica de Gijón and Oviedo Filarmonía.
With Mnemusine, she fulfills her musical dream and transforms her passion for music organizing concerts, creating new projects or combining educational and research projects with interpretation. All of this alongside the brilliant colleagues of the trio.
